趁着大家去投票的工夫
While people are going to vote

我们来爬个山
Let’s go for a hike

现在我们是在山脚下
Now we’re at the foot of the mountain

看这个牌子说
Look at this warning sign

要小心响尾蛇
Watch out for rattlesnakes

现在反正正好是季节
It’s the right time of year

能看到很多很多刚孵化出来的小蛇
You can see lots of newly hatched snakes

在山道上爬来爬去
crawling up and down the trail

但愿今天我们爬山的时候能看到一、两条蛇
Hopefully we’ll see a snake or two on our hike today

不过，估计很难如愿
But it’s not likely to happen

因为现在是早上
Because it’s morning

温度比较低
The temperature is low

蛇是不愿意活动的
Snakes are reluctant to move

不管怎么样
Anyway

我们试一下运气吧
Let’s try our luck

响尾蛇
Rattlesnake

在爬山之前
Before the hike

我们先看一下这里的海拔高度有多少
Let’s see what the elevation is here first

让我们打开这个APP
Let’s open this app

现在是580英尺
The height is now 580 feet

除以3的话
If you divide by three

也就是170米左右
that’s about 170 meters

等我们爬到山顶比较一下
We’ll compare them when we get to the top

看看我们爬了有多高的海拔高度
Look at how high we climbed

好，我们现在开始爬山
Okay, let’s start climbing now

这条山路呢比较陡
This is a steeper trail

路也比较窄
And narrow too

所以如果要是错行的话
When meeting someone on the trail

会非常的困难
where passage may be difficult

所以要像那个山路超车会车似的
As you’re driving on a mountain road

互相要避让
You should yield to other cars

前面这个小妞爬山挺有意思的
The girl in front was climbing awkwardly

手脚并用
using both hands and feet

戴了一副专业的手套来爬地
She even wore a pair of professional gloves for crawling

不知道有什么讲究
I don’t know what purpose is about

这山路因为现在非常干
The trail is very dry now

全都是土
Covered in dust

经常你会在树干上看见一些四脚蛇
You’ll often see some skinks on the trees

爬来爬去的
crawling around

现在过了这个拐角
Now passing this corner

就可以看到我们要爬的那个山顶了
You can see the top of the hill we’re going to climb

你看正前方远远的那个山
Look at that mountain in the distance

被雾罩着的
covered in fog

就是我们今天要爬的山顶
That’s the top of the mountain we’re climbing today

这个雾呢是海雾
This fog is called the marine layer

也就是从太平洋里吹过来的
It’s coming from the Pacific

每天早晨都会雾非常大
It’s intense in the morning

然后到中午
Until noon

随着太阳的升起
the heat of the sun becomes strong enough

这个雾就会消散
to evaporate it

到下午的时候又会回来
It will be back in the afternoon

这雾真大啊
It’s so foggy

现在我们继续往上爬
Now let’s keep climbing

现在我们要爬的那个山
The mountain we’re climbing now

基本看不见那个山顶
You can barely see the top

全被雾罩着
It’s all covered in fog

你看前面有一片仙人掌
Look, there’s a cactus patch up ahead of us

已经干不呲咧的
They seem to be drying out

你看看这些植被
Look at the vegetation

现在基本上都是一种干黄色
They’re all yellow

枯黄枯黄的
yellow, withered vegetation

洛杉矶呢
In Los Angeles

一年四季分两个季
It has only two seasons of the year

一个是旱季
One is the dry season

一个是雨季
And the rainy season

现在进入十一月呢
It’s November already

也就是说雨季马上就有开始了
That means the rainy season will start soon

所以，随着几场大雨过后
After a few heavy rains

这山就会一片绿油油的
the mountain will be green

而且会有很多的野花儿
And there will be lots of wildflowers

那时候就比现在漂亮多了
It was much prettier then

你看现在地上这些土面儿
Look at all this dirt on the ground now

一刮风都吹得睁不开眼
You can’t even keep your eyes open when the wind blows

下完雨后
After the rain

这些土都变成了泥巴浆
all this dirt turns to mud

踩在脚上黏糊糊的
It’s sticky on your feet

看一下这条山沟
Take a look at this canyon

我们就是沿着这条山沟
We’re just going up the ridge

左边的山脊一直往上爬
on the left side of this canyon

看看远处遛狗的人
Look at that guy walking his dog in the distance

已经下山了
He’s already going down

越往山上走
The further up the hill you go

感觉雾气越大
the fog getting heavier

让我们再回头看看后面的景色
Let’s see the view behind us

这就是我们刚才爬上来的那条小路
We just climbed up that trail

整个市区都被海雾笼罩着
The whole city is covered in marine layer

这是狗尾巴草
This is the dog’s tail grass

噢，错了
Oh, I was wrong

看这一丛丛叫狼尾草
It’s wolf’s tail grass

比狗尾巴草要强壮很多
It’s sturdier than dog’s tail grass

瞧瞧这些仙人掌干的
Look at these cacti, they are drying out

仔细看这个雾
Look closely at this fog

看这条山路
Look at this trail

我们从山底一直爬上来
We climbed all the way up from the bottom

看这个雾气
Take a look at the fog

马上就要到山顶了
We’re almost at the top

这是最后的冲刺
This is the final sprint

最后的几步路了
It’s the last few steps

马上就要到山顶了
We’re about to reach the top

看看这个红盒子
Look at this red box

这是个什么东西
What is this

这是一个心脏除颤器
It’s a cardiac defibrillator

最近看新闻

听说北京的地铁里
I heard that in the subway in Beijing

也逐步安装了这玩意儿
They’re gradually installing the devices as well

我们再来看看这个心脏除颤器

一个很小巧的东西

但是还是可以看出一个轮廓

现在这个雾蒙蒙的地方就是市中心
That foggy place is downtown

因为现在有雾

所以看不见
we can’t see anything

Probably when we’re coming down the hill

反正是特别诡异

I like this house a lot

上面全都是那个我们以前说过的胭脂虫

They’re everywhere

你看上面白花花的
All white

好，我们现在向迷宫走去
We’re heading to the maze now

近距离看看这个迷宫是什么样的
To get a closer look at what this maze looks like

看看，还有人带来颜料
Oh, look, someone brought paint

给他涂上颜色
Painted on the rocks

还是费了一番心思的

我就被狗扑过一次
I got attacked by a dog once

That dog jumped up on my shoulder

养狗的人都有一个心思
All dog owners think the same way

就认为人人都喜欢狗
Everybody likes dogs

都把他家的狗当宝贝儿
They treat his or her dog like a baby

可是不知道有人是天生怕狗的
But you didn’t know that some people are born afraid of dogs

现在我们就下山了
Now we’re going downhill

沿着这个山路一直往山下走
Follow this road all the way down the hill

我们看一下这栏杆下面的山路是什么样的
Let’s see what the road looks like below this railing

你看我们就会沿着这个山路
We’ll just follow this road

这么一直往山下走
All the way down the hill

远远地走到山下了

我们马上就要出去了
We’ll be out of the park soon

We’re almost at the entrance now

And then down this paved road

All the way down
